It might be called the Classic Car & Bike Show, but most of us refer to it as the Timour Hall show. It has been running for over twenty years. Here's what to expect this weekend.

The Classic car & Bike Show at Timour Hall has become an annual must-visit for Cape Town’s motoring enthusiasts. An ideal event for the entire family, the main attraction is a wide range of classic cars covering nearly the entire 20th century, plus a staggering number of interesting motorcycles as well.

The two days have different themes, and consequently different display vehicles. Saturday is termed Modern Classics, but it is mostly for '70s to '90s cars such as Fords, Datsuns, Volkswagens, BMWs and Opels as well as Street Rods and modified vehicles.

Sunday is known as Vintage Classics, which will include vehicles from 1901 up to the '90s with a focus on Pre-World War Two and classic sports cars, as well as all the motorcycles. On show will also be the country's oldest car, the 1901 Benz Ideal that resides here in Cape Town.

Colin and Megan Greyvensteyn, two of the event organisers, pointed out some further highlights from this weekend’s show. “This year's show also has a special display of fire trucks ranging from 1932 to 2009, which we are very excited about. Volunteer Wildfire Services will also be joining them with a stall of their own.

“Both days will have a large Autojumble field with all sorts of automotive parts, books and other treasures being for sale. A Toy Fair will also be taking place which is always a hit with the kids, as well as a jumping castle and jungle gym."

With pleasant weather being forecasted, there is also live music in the beer garden to look forward to with a large variety of food stalls. Free parking is available at Timour Hall Primary School just up the road.
