A rare find in South Africa, this Daimler 250 V8 has been comprehensively restored and is finished in a striking Candy Apple Red, with a cream and wood interior in the best old-school British luxury tradition.

The Daimler 250 was first introduced in 1962 and represented many firsts for the brand, as well as some "lasts". It was the first Daimler based on a Jaguar platform and also the first unibody Daimler product. Under the bonnet, however, it was very different to the Jaguar Mark 2, as it featured the marque's 2.5L V8 engine which was also used in the SP250 sportscar. 

The example featured here was originally purchased in Jersey, UK and shipped to South Africa six months later. The car still has its original owner’s manual and lubrication chart. This car has a history (available) with the current owner being only the 4th custodian from new.

Though not currently a matching-numbers vehicle, the original engine block also belongs to the current owner. The VIN number was changed to a South African number although the original factory numbers are still shown on the car.

This Daimler has been rebuilt from the ground-up and was the subject of a no-expense spared restoration. The body was stripped to bare metal, repaired and sprayed Candy Apple Red. The vehicle has driven only 350 miles since completion of the rebuild.

Inside, there is new, professionally-sewn cow-hide leather upholstery and quality wool carpets. The immaculate interior features a true Daimler roof lining and cornices as well as fantastic woodwork. New rubber seals have been fitted throughout. It features original retractable seatbelts.

Underneath the bonnet is a rebuilt and upgraded 2.5L V8 Daimler motor. The engine is mated with a professionally-reconditioned 3-speed Borg Warner automatic gearbox. It also has a balanced prop shaft with new bearings and a new radiator core. 

This beautiful machine rides on new Daimler stainless steel wire wheels and tyres with new hubs and bearings. It is fitted with stainless steel twin exhausts.
