This stunning dove gray Citroën DS19 is a South African-built car first registered in 1967 by a Mr. DB Louw of Kleinmond. Originally finished in light blue inside and out, a later owner changed the exterior to the period gray colour, and opted for red leather inside. The car underwent a full restoration in March 2008.

This car has led a cherished life, and has been maintained by the legendary Kurt Wittig, South Africa's foremost Citroën expert. Service invoices dating back to the early '70s and, in fact, the original owner's little roadbook, accompany the vehicle.

At some point in the car's life, its original 1911cc engine was upgraded to the larger, more powerful 1985cc unit, and the four-speed 'box changed for a 5-speed transmission, improving long-distance cruising comfort significantly.

The car is in mechanically excellent condition, as proven during the recent Cape 1000 regulatory rally, in which it emerged top of class after 5 days and 1 600km of competing in relentless heat, without a breakdown.

The car presents well and is a real head-turner, and it would not take much to improve it even further. The facia has recently been resurfaced with a new dashboard vinyl covering and interior paint neatened up. The only other work that a new owner may want to undertake is to fix a few minor spots of rust.

The vehicle's papers are all up to date, and it is sold with a spare front windscreen as well as various other small spare parts.
