When the Citroën 2CV was first unveiled in 1948, few would have predicted a production lifespan that would only end in 1990! Then again, it was widely regarded as one of the most important cars of the previous century, and according to renowned motoring scribe L.J.K. Setright was "the most intelligent application of minimalism ever to succeed as a car."

Also popular as a commercial vehicle, these panel vans, or "fourgonettes" are relatively rare in South Africa, and this left-hand drive 1974 example was imported from France. The current owner has had the vehicle for more than 20 years, and in that time the bodywork was expertly restored by Hein Steyn in Pretoria. The original 435cc engine was replaced with the 602cc unit. The vehicle retains its drum brakes, but has new upholstery and an upgraded (later model) dashboard. It is in immaculate condition all-round.
