A popular little roadster right from the start when the so-called "boat-tail" Spider was introduced in 1966, the Spider's market success and celebrity appeal (The Graduate etc.) continued through the '70s and even into the mid-90s (though significantly changed).

The Series 2 version with its Kamm tail (for improved luggage space) was introduced in 1970, initially with the 1750cc engine but updated to a 2.0L a year later.

This red 1975 beauty shows 122 000km on the odo and has been the subject of significant work in recent months. The engine was overhauled 1 200km ago, and it has just been serviced. It has new carpets and has been resprayed, while a new windscreen, front bumpers, grille etc. have been fitted.
