Porsche had a lot riding on the first-generation Boxster. Struggling with a dated, pricey 911 line-up, the Boxster (a combination of Boxer and Speedster) was launched in 1996 and immediately found favour with not only the motoring media, but also customers looking for a more affordable entry point to Porsche thrills. 

The more powerful "S" variant was added in 2000, boasting a vocal, mid-mounted 3.2L flat-6 cylinder engine pumping out 184kW, enough to propel the agile Boxster S to 100kph in 5.9 seconds when equipped with the 6-speed manual gearbox (as fitted to this example).

This neat 2001 Boxster S is finished in a desirable silver over black trim and has completed only 102 874km. It is fitted with an updated infotainment system.
