Though obviously based on the original (Series 1) Discovery, the Series 2 was more than a mere facelift. Then-custodians of Land Rover, BMW, claimed that 720 parts were new or different. In fact, every body panel was modified, except for the outer skins of the rear doors. 

This dark green example is a 2003 model with 231 763km on the odo. It has obviously been very well-cared for, as the interior is extremely neat - canvas covers are fitted to protect the original upholstery. Outside, the paintwork is largely blemish-free, with only the odd minor scratch to indicate that this Discovery has actually ventured off-road.

Under the bonnet is an inline 5-cylinder 2.5L turbodiesel engine, mated with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Of course, an off-road transfer case is fitted, and the Discovery 2 is a highly capable off-roader. This example rides on chunky BF Goodrich All-Terrain rubber, and it features metal front and rear bumpers, as well as a towbar at the rear, and a nudge bar with LED spotlights at the front.
